DRASS has completed the final operational activities related to the delivery, validation and operational readiness of its DS8 SDVs (swimmer delivery vehicles) in Batam, Indonesia, marking an important milestone in its cooperation with Excalibur International, the local Indonesian team and Indonesian defence stakeholders.

During a comprehensive programme, a DRASS team composed of Luca Biasci, Lorenzo Franchini and Daniele Bonsignori worked alongside personnel from EXCALIBUR INTERNATIONAL and the local Indonesian team to complete final delivery verification, operational readiness testing and disassembly/assembly validation activities on the SDVs.

Beyond the technical completion of the delivery, the mission confirmed one of the programme’s most important objectives: the successful Transfer of Technology process previously conducted in Italy.

The local Indonesian technical team demonstrated the success of the Transfer of Technology process by independently performing maintenance and configuration procedures, including decoupling and reassembly of the DS8 modular sections. At the same time, the teams completed functional tests side by side, deepening their knowledge of high-performance optronics, communication systems and autonomous functions through field testing. This confirmed not only the maintainability of the SDVs, but also the technical competence, operational preparedness and growing autonomy of the local team.

Representatives of Ministry of Defence (Indonesia) attended the activities and directly observed the advanced capabilities, readiness and supportability of the delivered DS8 crafts.

This milestone reflects the strength of international industrial cooperation among DRASS, EXCALIBUR INTERNATIONAL, the local Indonesian team, and Indonesian defence stakeholders. It also reinforces DRASS’s commitment to delivering advanced subsea systems together with the operational training, technical knowledge, and long-term support required to sustain them in service.
