Successful Commissioning of SAVER’s DDC

Last week at DRASS HQ, we completed the combined Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Commissioning (I&I) of the Ballast Tank Supply (IZ) System of the SDO-SuRS Deployable SAVER apparatus — a cutting-edge rescue support system ensuring safe breathable air supply and full operational readiness in submarine rescue missions.

Thanks to the close synergy between the Italian Navy, its Rescue Assets Testing Commission, and our DRASS team, this two-week verification phase was successfully wrapped up in just one week, with outstanding results.

CORE TESTING included:

  • 16 Breathable Air Compressors /4 Containers for pressure, flow, robustness & redundancy;
  • Air Distribution System: hoses, winch, manifold & whips for pressure & leak integrity;
  • Control Cockpit System: signal & operational coordination, air system management, communication management;
  • Electric Generator System: power capacity, stability, and fire safety system.

PERFORMANCE TESTING included:

  • Operational readiness;
  • Communication architecture;
  • Data/video sharing system — employing a certified small-scale replica of the Operational Monitoring Centre (OMC) onboard the rescue ship.

Congratulations to all who contributed to this resounding success, as we uphold our century‑long tradition of excellence in life‑saving subsea solutions for every life‑critical situation.
