SMERWG Winter Panel | London

This week, DRASS participated in the Submarine Escape & Rescue Working Group (SMERWG) as part of the Italian Navy Delegation, represented by Davide D’Alessio, Program Manager and former Italian Navy submariner.

Hosted by the Royal Navy, the event served as an important forum for the exchange of technical perspectives and strengthening of collective efforts to advance global readiness in submarine emergency response. As supplier of the Italian Navy’s new SAVER Submarine Rescue System, Drass contributed to discussions focused on the future of submarine rescue capabilities.

Bilateral meetings with representatives from Canada, the United States, Greece, Germany, Poland, Spain, Israel, Malaysia, and Singapore highlighted a growing international interest in SAVER system—particularly its intervention capabilities, ventilation solutions, and intermodal transport readiness, which are increasingly seen as essential features for next‑generation rescue operations.

The event underscored Italy’s pivotal role within the SMER framework and DRASS’s shared commitment to fostering transparent, constructive collaboration across the global SMER community.

We thank all the delegations for the open dialogue and shared vision. Together, we continue this journey—driven by innovation, cooperation, and the safety of submariners worldwide.
