Successful Commissioning of SAVER’s DDC

DRASS has completed the Installation & Integration (I&I) commissioning of the Diving Decompression Chamber (DDC) system, part of the Italian Navy’s advanced submarine rescue solution: Drass SAVER. This milestone marks the final phase before Sea Acceptance Testing (SAT) and full system delivery!

Over a week-long testing program at DRASS Romania last week, the DDC was integrated with the FASD system and subjected to rigorous validation procedures. Key operations included:

  • Pressurization/depressurization at multiple depths
  • Verification of system robustness, redundancy & performance limits
  • CO2 removal and environmental control system testing
  • Fire-Fighting System performance evaluation
  • Built-in Breathing System (BiBS) apparatus testing

All tests were carried out following approved protocols, with the direct involvement and full cooperation of the Italian Navy Deep Divers (“Palombari“) delegation, led by Captain (N) Giovanni Modugno and including CDR Giorgio Gabriele Bisaglia, CDR Giovanni Torraco, and LT Antonio Corda.

Special thanks to the Italian Navy and the full team from DRASS Italy and DRASS Romania — including PM Emanuele Bartolini, PE Matteo Gasperini, QA/QCs Alessandro Benincasa and Andrei Bolojan, and ED Cristina Sav — for their contributions to the success of this crucial phase.

Next stop: Sea Trials!
