NATO SMERWG 2025 (Submarine Escape & Rescue Working Group) took place last week in Hawaii from 9–13 June, with Davide D’Alessio—our Defence System & Method Coordinator and former Italian Navy submariner—representing DRASS at the event. This pivotal NATO forum convened 111 military and industry experts from 22 nations with the common goal of advancing global collaboration and innovation in submarine rescue. As part of the SMERWG program, the Drass SAVER system—currently being rolled out to the Italian Navy—was showcased. Delivering the latest in submarine rescue and intervention, SAVER (Submarine Assistance, Ventilation & Rescue) ensures operational efficiency, reduced response times, and critical support during submarine emergencies—reinforcing Drass’ commitment to safety, reliability, and readiness in underwater operations. Beyond the sessions, the 𝘓uau Night introduced one and all to the rich traditions and hospitality of the Pacific Islands—a welcoming cultural touch during a highly collaborative week. Our sincere thanks go to the organizers and the international community for another outstanding event.
