Korean Navy’s DRASS diving system on board ASR-II ship – Commissioning completed & KR classification certificate issued

Commissioning is now completed on the advanced diving system of new submarine rescue ship ASR-II. This DRASS contract awarded by the Korean Navy in 2018 included the design, manufacture and installation of this state-of-the-art deep diving system and was implemented in cooperation with local partner Dongil Shipyard.

The 120m long ASR-II vessel, named Ganghwado (5,200 tonnes), is being built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), now Hanwha OCEAN, one of the world’s top five shipyards with an extensive record of military and offshore vessels. ASR-II has been selected to support the new Jangbogo III submarine fleet currently in construction.
